No, a CLIA number is only necessary if you are processing point-of-care tests or any other laboratory testing within your office.
Why should I drug test my patients?
Medication management through drug testing is beneficial for both the physician and the patient. Medications used to treat chronic pain can be harmful and/or have different effects depending on individual patients. Drug testing can aid in patient compliance as well as meet state law requirements for chronic opioid user drug screening.
Do you provide cups for the UDT?
Yes, we provide everything necessary for optimal collection. We will supply your clinic with collection cups, biohazard bags, as well as pre-paid UPS shipping labels and bags.
How do I collect specimens?
- First ask the patient to state his/her full name and date of birth. Compare this to the Requisition and proceed with collection only if there are no discrepancies.
- Give sealed collection cup to Donor, being careful to remove anything from the bathroom that could be added to the specimen.
- Ideal sample size is 30 ml of urine, minimum sample size is 5 ml.
- After sample is collected, notate the temperature of the sample. If sample container is cold to the touch, the sample is invalid and recollect is necessary.
- Have Donor sign and date the requisition form.
- Place specimen in biohazard bag and seal.
How do I ship specimens for processing?
You will affix the prepaid shipping label to the shipping bag and either call 1-800-PICK-UPS to schedule a pick up or drop the bag in your nearest collection box.
Do specimens have to be refrigerated?
No refrigerator is needed as long as specimens are sent within 7 days of collection.
When should I expect my reports to be available? How will I receive them?
Reports will be available within 48 hours or less of HDx Labs receiving the sample. Reports can be faxed, sent via email and/or available in the clinics portal. We also offer free EMT integration.
What tests do you offer?
We offer a preliminary 10-panel + adulteration detection screening, as well as confirmation testing via a 33-panel LC/MS screening. We only offer tests for all scheduled 2,3,4 medications and illegal drugs. We do not screen for any medications that do not have a potential for abuse or addiction. We also offer Oral Toxicology, Complete Blood, Infectious Disease – PCR (RPP, UTI, Wound, Nail Fungus, STI and GI), and Allergy Blood droplet testing (Environmental and Food).
What are the benefits of preliminary and confirmation testing?
Preliminary tests give an overall view of what the patient may or may not be taking. Preliminary testing is not as accurate as confirmation testing, but may aid in determining whether or not additional screening is needed. Confirmation testing is much more specific with regards to individual drugs, as opposed to just drug classes. This test will allow you to accurately determine which drugs your patient is or is not taking. For example the preliminary test may show that your patient is positive for opiates, but to determine the specific opiate (i.e. Hydrocodone or Heroin) you would need confirmation testing.
How long will patients results be available after processing?
Patient results are kept for 2 years after the testing date.
Can specimens be re-tested?
Yes, we can re-test within 30 days of original testing date.
